George, good call. My numbers were from yesterday...Johnson has already moved up to #5 in the pre-orders as of 2 pm today.

And as for "Love is Free," I was talking about the general iTunes 100, where it's nowhere to be found.

And Bry, good call(s) as well. Although the first quarter of any year is typically low on new releases, this year is surprisingly bland; outside of these three albums, there's really nothing big until Panic at the Disco's new CD on 3/25. So if there's going to be any big biz in the music industry before Spring, it's gonna be this Tuesday, thus Super Tuesday. (The current Billboard chart-toppers are selling around 60,000 per week, which is abysmally low...Kanye sold 950,000 in one week with last year's "Graduation.") That said, these albums are looking relatively mediocre and none of the three artists have huge singles to accompany the release date.

It's kind of like how everyone will get psyched on Tuesday for the prez primaries and then Wednesday they'll all go..."McCain? Really? We picked John McCain?" Tuesday could and should have been big for the music industry, but the artists just aren't putting out big lead singles.

So yes, big names more so than big music.

Jon, I'm a bit confused, you bring this up to be Super Tuesday, as if it's a big day for the industry, but the albums (per your description) sound like big names more than big music. Is this an important day at all, really?

And you mention the success of the 50 Cent - Kanye media fight ... are you proposing Jack Johnson and Sheryl Crow start attacking each other?

Detours (pre-order) is Number 40 right now. Past week it was number 12. Tomorrow... i don't know, i'm not a whiz! Anyway, it's called sinusoidal factor ;)

Love is Free is Number 37 (itunes pop)
