Grammy Preview Review

Tonight is the Grammy Awards, the music industry’s only recognizable night of recognition. I’ve spent the last three weeks predicting winners in many of this year’s categories, and below are my picks in the general field. After the jump are the rest of my choices.

    You have three should win and will wins matching up here, a shockingly low number. You must really not trust the Grammy voters. Then again, I’m preparing for a “No Country”-ridden Oscars, so I guess we both hate the award show voting this year.

    It’s a little different, as the Academy is actually a foremost authority on the best in film for any given year. Grammy voters, meanwhile, are much more influenced by mainstream success. (Thus why Peter Travers’ year-end ten-best movies list comes very close to the Academy noms, while Rolling Stone’s Top 50 Albums is completely divergent with Grammy noms).

    But yeah, I’m not too big a Grammy voters fan. For any year, really.
